Japanese Pokémon cards appeal to collectors for their artwork and presentation. Before ordering, identify the exact reference: set names and groupings do not always correspond directly to French releases.
Identify the product
Record the Japanese set name where available, its code and the card number. For a booster, read the card count on that particular product listing. Do not automatically apply the contents of a Western pack.
Understand variants
The same Pokémon can appear with different rarities or illustrations. Compare the photograph, number and finish. For a graded card, also check the reference printed on the holder’s label.
Collecting versus playing
Buying artwork you enjoy and using a card in organised competition are different goals. Before an event, confirm the applicable language rules with its organiser.
