Name and rarity are not enough to compare two copies. Surface, edge and corner condition affect appearance and suitability for your collection.
Look for useful photographs
For an important card, inspect front and back under even lighting. A slightly angled view may reveal marks hidden in a straight-on photograph. Do not infer perfect condition from one small image.
Read the description
Condition categories depend on the grading framework being used. Read the platform’s definitions rather than assuming every seller follows exactly the same scale. A reference image identifies the card design; an actual photograph informs you about the offered copy.
Choose for your intended use
Players and condition-focused collectors may accept different imperfections. Set your criteria before comparing offers. For a graded card, check the grading company, grade and photographs of the holder. The grade does not remove the need to verify that the card is the exact reference you want.
