Language affects both collecting enjoyment and playing comfort. Some players want to read every card immediately; others want a consistent deck or the names used by their playgroup.
When learning
Beginners often benefit from cards in a language they read comfortably. If you play with foreign-language cards, keep a reliable reference for current wording and take time to explain effects. Interactions are easier when everyone can identify the cards clearly.
When collecting
Choose a rule before starting: one language only, any language accepted or a preference for particular characters. This makes purchases more consistent. Do not assume a foreign-language printing is always worth more or less; compare the same edition, condition and finish.
Before buying
