The best filing system is one you can maintain. An elaborate arrangement loses its value if every new opening forces you to move all the pages.
Choose one main rule
Set, number, character or colour: start with the criterion that matches your goal. Collector numbers make gaps easy to spot when completing a set. A thematic arrangement may be more enjoyable for displaying favourite artwork.
Leave room to grow
Reserve spaces for expected cards and avoid overloading pockets. Check that sleeved cards fit without force. Do not bend a page to squeeze an overfilled binder onto a shelf.
Keep duplicates separate
Store trade cards somewhere else. A short digital want list saves you from opening the binder during every purchase. Photograph the arrangement after a major update so you can recover your system when returning to the collection months later. Choose compatible protection and storage based on actual card dimensions, not only the game’s name.
