Arena Limited Championship Qualifier 3 opens today, October 16, at 17:00 in Paris. The MTG Arena event uses two consecutive Best-of-One Reality Fracture Draft stages: reach seven wins in Draft 1 to earn a Draft 2 token, then reach five or six wins in Draft 2 to win cash and an invitation to the Arena Limited Championship.
This is not an ordinary queue with a slightly larger prize table. It is a high-variance competitive path with a 25,000-gold or 5,000-gem entry, two-loss elimination in each stage, 30-minute player clocks and strict closing times. This guide separates Wizards of the Coast’s official rules from MoxCards preparation advice, converts every deadline into Paris time, and explains how to budget both currency and concentration.
Qualifier 3: the official schedule in Paris time
| Stage | Official UTC time | Paris time |
|---|---|---|
| Draft 1 and Draft 2 open | October 16, 15:00 UTC | October 16, 17:00 |
| Draft 1 signups close | October 19, 12:00 UTC | October 19, 14:00 |
| Draft 1 ends | October 19, 15:00 UTC | October 19, 17:00 |
| Draft 2 signups close | October 19, 15:00 UTC | October 19, 17:00 |
| Draft 2 ends | October 19, 18:00 UTC | October 19, 20:00 |
Wizards advertises the event as October 16–18, but the detailed official terms give operational deadlines on October 19. The gap is intentional: signups close before the final completion window. Follow the in-client countdown and the detailed timestamps rather than assuming that starting late on Sunday leaves enough time.
Draft 1: entry, structure and rewards
- Entry: 25,000 gold or 5,000 gems per run.
- Format: Best-of-One Reality Fracture Player Draft.
- Run ends: seven wins or two losses.
- Clock: 30 minutes per player for each match.
- Re-entry: permitted any number of times, subject to the official rules and deadline.
| Draft 1 wins | Official reward | Gem return versus a 5,000-gem entry |
|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | No reward | −5,000 |
| 4 | 1,000 gems | −4,000 |
| 5 | 2,500 gems | −2,500 |
| 6 | 5,000 gems | 0 |
| 7 | 5,500 gems + Draft 2 token | +500 plus token |
The last column is MoxCards arithmetic, not an official valuation. A gold entry has no direct gem refund calculation, and the Draft 2 token has no normal store price. The key strategic fact is simpler: six wins refunds a gem entry, while only seven wins advances you.
Draft 2: where the invitation is awarded
Draft 2 cannot be bought directly. It requires the invitation token earned at seven wins in Draft 1. It is another Best-of-One Reality Fracture Player Draft with a 30-minute clock, and the run ends at six wins or two losses.
| Draft 2 wins | Official reward |
|---|---|
| 0 | No reward |
| 1 | 6,500 gems |
| 2 | 7,500 gems |
| 3 | 8,500 gems |
| 4 | 10,000 gems |
| 5 | US$1,000 + Arena Limited Championship invitation |
| 6 | US$2,000 + Arena Limited Championship invitation |
The invitation leads to the Arena Limited Championship scheduled for January 16–17, 2027. Wizards says that closed event will use Best-of-Three Draft and will qualify approximately 120 players for the 2027 Magic Limited Championship. A player can earn only one Arena Limited Championship entry token during the year, although already-qualified players may continue playing qualifiers for other prizes.
Eligibility and cash-prize administration
The official terms require participants to be at least 18—or the age of majority where they live—and to use an active, valid Wizards Account. France is not among the prohibited territories listed for this qualifier. Players must use only one Wizards Account for the event; entering across multiple accounts is prohibited.
Cash winners also need an active i-payout account. Wizards contacts winners through the email address attached to their Wizards Account, so check that address before entering and monitor it after the event. Cash prizes can be subject to tax reporting or withholding. That is an administrative point from the official rules, not individual tax advice; consult an appropriate professional for your situation.
MoxCards decision checklist before paying the entry
Official rule: each Draft 1 attempt costs 25,000 gold or 5,000 gems. MoxCards advice: decide your maximum number of attempts before the first draft begins. A seven-win requirement with only two losses permitted creates sharp variance, even for a strong drafter.
- Choose the currency deliberately. Gold preserves gems for other Limited events; gems may be preferable if your gold is reserved for packs or if you value the six-win gem refund. There is no universally correct conversion.
- Reserve an uninterrupted block. Draft, deck construction and up to eight matches can take several hours. Draft 2 adds another potential seven matches.
- Set a stop-loss. Write down the maximum gold or gems you will spend. Re-entry is allowed, but permission to re-enter is not a reason to chase a failed run.
- Check the account. Confirm your legal age, email address, country and single-account compliance before you pay.
- Leave deadline margin. Do not begin a decisive run near the closure. Client problems, long matches and breaks all consume the completion window.
How to draft for a two-loss event
The official rules define the format; the recommendations below are MoxCards strategy. Two-loss elimination increases the cost of a fragile deck. You still need a route to win, but consistency matters more than squeezing every speculative synergy into forty cards.
- Prioritise a functional curve. A powerful five- or six-mana card cannot repair repeated losses caused by missing early plays.
- Draft interaction with a job in mind. Separate cheap tempo, unconditional removal and answers to large permanents. Your final deck needs coverage, not merely a high removal count.
- Demand evidence before splashing. A third colour should offer a material power gain and adequate fixing. Avoid weakening the first four turns for a replaceable card.
- Build for Game 1. Best-of-One rewards maindeck flexibility. Narrow cards that would normally live in a sideboard must justify their floor.
- Use the clock as a resource. Thirty minutes per player is comfortable only if routine decisions stay routine. Identify your combat tricks, instant-speed interaction and likely race calculations during deck construction.

Between Draft 1 and Draft 2
If you earn the Draft 2 token, pause before using it. Save a screenshot of the seven-win result, confirm that the token appears, and check the Draft 2 deadline. Review only actionable information from the first run: which cards were consistently underperforming, which combat patterns mattered and where the format punished slow starts. Do not assume the next pod will support the same colours or archetype.
The token can be used only within the event window described by Wizards. If you intend to play Draft 2, leave enough time to finish a possible seven-match run before 20:00 Paris time on October 19.
Final recommendation
This qualifier suits experienced Reality Fracture drafters who want a direct competitive path and can accept a top-heavy structure. Players still learning the format will usually gain more useful repetitions in ordinary Draft queues before risking the qualifier entry. Whichever route you choose, use the MTG Arena client and the official terms as the final authority on availability, eligibility and deadlines.
