For Magic, Wizards' locator helps you find venues and events. For other games, begin with the publisher's organised-play resources. Store social accounts can add useful details, but always check when an announcement was posted.
Contact the organiser
Confirm format, expected experience, available places and arrival time. Ask whether equipment is provided for an introductory session. The word tournament alone does not tell you the atmosphere or experience level required.
Prepare your first visit
Bring only what you need and keep your playing deck separate from trading cards. Say you are new if that is the case so staff can point you in the right direction. Afterwards, note regular events that fit your routine.
